Incredible find in Finland – Only 4420 km covered 9-5

The body Panels of Kalevi’s Saab shine like new, and there is no wear in the leather interior. That’s no wonder because of the car’s mileage – 4,420 kilometres since 2004. The exceptionally small mileage feels unbelievable, but Kalevi knows it right. He knew the previous owner of the car, who had sadly passed away a year ago. Now, after all the formalities, Saab is registered to Kalevi and his wife Pirjo.

New happy owners don’t plan to ruin their wonderful Saab treasure with daily driving, but will only use it in good weather. For the daily commute family do have newer, 2017 Japanese crossover.

Saab came with a service book that, however, had only one entry prior to new ownership. The only record in the service book shows the car’s handover service in 2004.

Kalevi already knew the history of his Saab because he was a technician at Mäkelä Auto and serviced and repaired Saabs in Järvenpää for 34 years until retired 12 years ago. Saab’s previous owner was his customer.

He has a strong emotional connection to Saab, as do many other Finns: this Swedish brand was manufactured in Uusikaupunki from 1969 to 2003. In total, more than 700,000 Saab cars were manufactured in Finland in 34 years.

Today, Saab lives and breathes mainly through enthusiasts, but many of them are still in everyday use. At the moment of this article publication, there are only 55 9-5 for sale in the United Kingdom.

This Saab is not for sale unless someone puts really large amounts of banknotes on the table, Kalevi laughs.
